Of Ruination
Read Daniel Radford’s poem, Of Ruination, as heard in the animation of the same name on his YouTube channel. Of Ruination is a short exploration of a decaying human mind, given form in a trek through desert ruins.
I’m walking through the ruins of my mind,
Surrounded by structures once glorious,
Watching the architecture crumble.
I’m searching for myself in the hieroglyphs,
Looking for familiarity in a forgotten language,
Trying to decipher a past I should remember.
I once lived in these falling towers.
Now, I wander the wastelands around them,
Searching for oases of thought in the barren.
I’m no longer the person that I was.
Gone is my former pride now I’ve decayed.
All that is left is skin and bones waiting to wither.
